When Dr. Nelly left her clinical practice job after 9 years, it wasn’t because she had lost her passion for medicine — it was because she had found a deeper calling.She had often visited elderly patients at their homes, and others who had been discharged from the hospital also called for aftercare. The hospital had done its part, but at home, they were alone. Some even gave reasons why they could not manage to get to a hospital, like having no one to accompany them.Dr Nelly realised that for many patients, recovery doesn’t end at the hospital door — it continues in the quiet, everyday moments at home. She saw how a simple home visit could prevent complications, reduce readmissions, and bring comfort to both patients and their families.
So, she started Nel’s Home-based Medical Services, a small, home-based medical service. At first, it was just her — visiting patients, checking vitals, managing medications, and offering companionship. Word spread quickly.
